This vintage Easter postcard perfectly illustrates the Easter Sundays of my childhood. My brother and I always had new outfits, head to toe. My dear mother probably made my dress and if the weather was cold enough to have to wear a coat to cover it up, I was heartbroken. When my brother was young, she made a lot of his clothes too. I can remember one year when he refused to wear the suit she made him because she made the buttons go on the "girl" side. He was positive everyone would notice this detail and make fun of him. In later years, I can remember putting the finishing touches on the outfits I made myself, usually just under the wire, time wise. My mother was always available to help pin up the hem at the end.
Are you planning an Easter Egg hunt for the children in your lives? The weather here is going to be perfect. xo

What an adorable illustration. No Easter egg hunt here (anymore) but I'll be enjoying a wonderful day because my daughter is making Easter Dinner! Hope you, too, have a lovely day, Rosemary.
I remember those Easter outfits. We even have pictures of me as a toddler in my bonnet.
Mama Pea -- How nice. Enjoy being the guest at your daughter's house. Happy Easter. I am dining with friends. xo Rosemary
Linda Sand -- I love seeing old photos of toddlers in their Easter outfits. Have a Happy One!!!

How adorable! Those kind of childhood memories are so special. Everything is painted so vividly when you are a child. Makes me sad that there are no little ones at my house anymore to celebrate holidays. They always make things so much more fun. Enjoy your Easter Rosemary. (I am celebrating at a friend's too.)
My memories of Easter are much the same as yours. My Mother sewed for me also.
Enchanting! This photo reminds me of my childhood too and yes my mother also made matching dresses for my younger sister and I and finished off with pretty ribbons in our hair!

Rosemary, such sweet remembrances of Easter's past has set many of us down memory lane. I think the picture is something many of your readers can relate to especially the story about your brother's Easter suit...being embarrassed. Like you, my mom made most of our clothes and then as my sisters and I grew older we learned to sew them ourselves. I was never as good at clothing creation as my mother and older sister. I'm grateful that now it's much cheaper to buy ready made clothing and I no longer have to whip something up.
