Blanket Around My Firescreen

Warm at last and it doesn't look too bad. I wrapped a wool blanket around my firescreen to keep the heat from going up the chimney and it worked. Yes, my flue was closed but the big hole was still stealing my heat. The cottage is much warmer as I await yet another snow storm beginning at midnight. Fingers crossed it's not too deep. Stay warm. xo

Sounds like a smart idea. I don’t have a fireplace, but my daughter has one in her new condo. Will give tip to her.

I think anything that can block the cold is an excellent idea. Your wool blanket is a perfect backdrop for your artwork. Take care to stay warm and safe during the next storm!

Great idea...I put insulation in the fireplace in the bedroom but the living room one is just sucking the heat up the chimney (even though it is zoned and set at 42 it still makes the furnace work to keep it at that especially when we are having wind chills of 30 below here in WI).

The brown blanket looks so chic. This coming storm scares me to death! It has a name! Sheesh!

Stay warm!!!

Anything for warmth during extreme cold . . . a while back we stayed in a B and B in PA that had its original large hearth with handsome shutters which closed it off when not in use for this very reason.
Do stay warm.
I worry that you may receive or already have more snow than you wish.
Know you are prepared for that . . . just the same . . . let us know how you are doing.
