The Lake District - Beautiful England

View from Tilberthwaite quarry, Lake District, England by alastairgraham19
I have never been to the Lake District favored by Beatrix Potter. It looks like Mother Nature's wonderland in this photo, doesn't it?

Lovely! I've read/heard of the many walking paths and trails all over the U. K., but have wondered if I could tackle any of them without getting lost on my own. If I had a walking partner, I think I would definitely give it a go provided the trail isn't too steep. :-)

This picture is beautiful. I thought at first it was an imaginary place from a child's book.

I absolutely love the Lake District. Exploration is endless, and it's such a beautifully peaceful place. I have been so many times.

Hiking alone is very easy, there are short and easy walks and well mapped. You can pick up these little maps in most of the villages. In addition, most areas have scheduled guided hikes. These are quite enjoyable, and you meet so many other people in your group.

On a good day, Cat Bells is so full of "fell" hikers ... People are ahead and behind you all the way.

Read up and go. There are a lot of options depending on where you want to be and what kind of experience you want. The areas around Windemere and Coniston are fairly flat and easy.

I was there in May. One of my favorite places! You can walk everywhere.

Thanks for making us all want to go hiking there. I'm sure JudyMac appreciates your comment based on your experiences on the walking trails. I can't imagine a more beautiful place in the fall.

If only Scotty would beam me there, I could happily live long and prosper in this gorgeous location.
