I wish I had my outlets down low like this. I think they are an eyesore no matter where they are placed, especially if you have paneled walls. I honestly didn't think of putting them down low when my house was being rewired. I anxiously await the day when all lamps are wireless, just as they appear in interior design magazines where they have been photoshopped. Wouldn't that be nice? photo source

With the exception of my kitchen, all of my outlets are in the baseboards. Visually, it makes a world of difference. My house was built in 1805, so I'm glad someone knew what they were doing when wiring the house!
He Who Loves an Old House --Tim, How nice. I'm happy for you. I'm sure the fine woodworkers hate having to cut outlet openings in baseboards. Where are today's craftsmen? Your home is beyond lovely!

I wish mine were in the baseboard.
It has such a wonderfully aged look to it.
In fact...If I had one in the floor in a few places would be great! then I could float my furniture and it wouldn't look like a Dr. Office waiting room. :/
I wonder if people with outlets in the baseboard ever say..."I wish this outlet were higher up on the wall."?
Wireless electricity is just around the corner. MIT has developed it and even North Carolina State has a major in wireless electricity. Try googling it and you can read more on it. I am so excited about no more unsightly plugs in the future. ☺

Patricia...HaHaHa -- I'm sure they do. Nobody is ever happy with what they have. My number one pet peeve is outlets within a paneled wall that aren't centered.

Anonymous...Thanks for the exciting news about wireless electricity. Can't wait!

That baseboard outlet is very attractive.
Oh those pesky lamp and appliance cords. I still try to hide them but I'm not as finicky as I use to be. My biggest pet peeve is switches in the middle of walls. I always wonder what was that electrician thinking putting that switch right where I wanted to hang a picture.
With these slight imperfections and irritants I remind myself how lucky and grateful I am to have electricity. I appreciate most things old and the craftsmanship of the past but I'm very grateful to be living now...otherwise my hair would be a frizzled mess while I sat lazily around all summer in overly soiled clothes trying to survive in my humid mildewy house.
