I think we were pretty lucky this week in the Mid-Atlantic. The rain wasn't quite as bad as they predicted, and the warm temps have, indeed, melted quite a bit of snow, gently. I went out every day this past week and shoveled a bit into the street and driveway to get rid of it, via the storm sewers. Chopped iced, for the umpteenth time, and finally rid our driveway of the impromptu skating rink. Soon we will have nothing to show for all our hard work, but I long to see the first snowdrops and crocuses, which must be waiting impatiently to bloom. We went for a walk at an arboretum today. I decided to go off-trail to take a close up photo of some witch hazel. The snowbank I tried to climb over was not quite solid and crusty enough to stand on for more than a few seconds and I fell face first in the snow. But, oh, the tiny witch hazel blossoms were reward enough for making a fool of myself, as was the warmth of the sun and the blue skies.

Rosemary, yours is a lovely blog. It depicts life in a very gentle, inspiring way. I'm always learning and seeing something new!
