Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving Wishes

Thanksgiving is a busy day for all of us. I hope your turkey looks just like the one in the Norman Rockwell illustration called Freedom From Want. This painting appeared on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post on March 6, 1943 and inspired America. It continues to inspire me. Every time I look at it I remember my grandparents and the big family get togethers of days gone by.
I added the poem below the classic image.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

...i too love this particular "rockwell"...i always find it interesting to ask people what they remember to be on the dinner table...usually they cite many many things that are not there...there truly are very few food items other than the tukey...some celery...grapes...fruit...and water...people are so surprised that the dinner is so humble...the blessings...you see...are the people around the table...not what is on it...

Rosemary, I hope you and Webster have a lovely day today. Thank you for all the great postings this past year, despite the fact that we've not personally met I never-the-less consider you both to be my good friends.

My large family is scattered this year so we will join my dear friend Linda and her family to give thanks and feast. I introduced her to your blog and now she too often leaves you comments.

Happy Thanksgiving and oh yes, may the calories stay off of our thighs and any other place they may wish to stay.
