A Cottage in a Steel Box, An Architectural Wonder by Adam Kalkin with Video . . .

This house is on broker open house today and I can't go because I am conducting an open house too. I hope I will get another chance to see it at a later date.

Built by Architectural Designer Adam Kalkin for his own use.

International shipping containers were used for the outer shell. A real country cottage is inside. Some of the walls lift to bring the outdoors in. I can't believe this is near me and I am just hearing about it. I think it is pretty famous. Welcome to "Bunny Lane" ~ I look forward to your comments.

I like this one, it is different but I think I like the light and the huge glass bays. The garage door open windows are cool! I also like the fireplace, I did one very similar to this for a client in her lofty looking home, she also installed a windowed glass garage door leading to the outdoor area. Not for everyone, but a cool way to recycle things!

Rosemary: I only have a moment to comment so haven't watched the video yet, but I'm totally in love with this idea! Go to the site containercity.com to see more about the use of shipping containers as dwellings. Pretty genius if you ask me.

First of all, I want to wish you good luck with your own open house today.
And, this house is great!! I love openess in a house(wah! I live in a teeny little rectangle of a Ranch house, with very little spaciousness about it)), and think this is clever and inspired(love the cabernet colored walls and book shelves in one of the photos). There was a house very much like this featured in Yankee Mag a few years back(same architect, perhaps?)
