Christmas in An All White Interior

I hope there is another working fireplace or a wood stove in this house so this wood supply will be put to good use. It looks nice, doesn't it? I love the mantle decorations. via

Christmas Classics Sung by Old Crooners [Video]

Can you hear the Christmas music playing in this beautiful room?

Here's hoping you enjoy this trip down Memory Lane. I know I did. Close your eyes and listen; you'll think you're a kid again.

Dog Waiting for Santa [Video]

I posted this video last year and it continues to be one of my favorites. You won't believe how smart this little Jack Russell Terrier is and you'll love watching him leave treats for Santa. At the end of this charming video there is an opportunity to download the photo as wallpaper.

Webster would not have this much self control. He would have gobbled down that plate of cookies in a flash and that would have been his Christmas present.

Hanging My Wreath Today

I need to go out to the barn/garage today and find my pine cone wreath and my tree. As in past years, I've waited until it's freezing and my hands don't work. These three country images reminded me I'd better hurry up.

Another Paper Snowflake Tutorial [Origami]

Garland made from origami paper, dental floss and tape.

So this is how it's done?

I really love the red snowflakes on brown paper tied with string.
Aren't these red snowflakes beautiful? I can't take credit for the photos or the instructions either. Head on over to How About Orange for all that.

Santa Claus by Thomas Nast in Harper's Weekly

I photographed this old page from Harper's Weekly circa 1881 some time ago. I must look for it in my bulging flat file. It's the classic image of Santa Claus by the famous illustrator, Thomas Nast. The artist was from Morristown and I drive by his historic home all the time on my way to the library.

Night Lights for The Holidays

Aren't these outdoor holiday lights lovely? I'm a total failure in this department but I'm so glad other people go to all this trouble so others can enjoy the fruits of their labor. Snow the ground courtesy of Mother Nature makes them even nicer.

Blue Spruce At The Cottage

I hope I never have to cut down any of the blue spruce trees that I grew from seedlings. They are my favorite evergreens and I have a whole grove in front of my cottage. Today this tall tree is covered with rain drops; it's a very gloomy day indeed. At my office meeting today I noticed that the people in the house across the street already have their Christmas tree up, lights and all. It's way too early in my opinion but I guess people with little children get the Christmas spirit long before I do.
