Book Review | Book Thief

The Man Who Loved Books Too Much
by Allison Hoover Bartlett The true story of a thief, a detective, and a world of literary obsession. Now this sounds like my kind of book. Read the Rare Book Review and another short article about this Tome Raider.

Unpackaged Grocery Store in London

An Idea Whose Time Has Come ~ Bring Your Own Container is the theme at Unpackaged, a London grocer offering many of their goods without packaging, or at least in refillable containers. Items range from the usual bulk and whole foods, but also include items not normally found in bulk, like herbs, oils, vinegars, soaps, toiletries, and even wine.

I can remember when most health food stores were like this. They would weigh your container when you entered the store and you could fill up jugs or jars with honey, oil, shampoo, peanut butter, milk, etc. Everything old is new again, right?

Paint Decorated Antique Cupboard

I love this cupboard. The exuberant paint decoration is so special. Photographed from one of my books; I can't even remember which one right now. That salmon color would be perfect here in the cottage. I like the combination of closed doors and one open shelf. Nice.

George Washington by Gilbert Stuart

The finest and best and most reproduced portrait of George Washington by Gilbert Stuart. Read the interesting history behind it.

Rain Drops On My Four Leaf Clover

There is a misty rain falling at my house. Thankfully it is not the white stuff. I was lucky yesterday that we had a nice enough day to hang a load of wash outside. I was shocked that everything was almost dry when I took it in. I put the towels on the radiators and hung the rest on my overhead laundry rack in the kitchen. Everything was put away before I went to bed. Sleeping on line-dried sheets is definitely one of the best things I do here at the cottage. I'm still using my first batch of homemade washing powder too and will never be without it. I think I'll make another batch today. It's quick and easy.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday. Rosemary

Coloring The Leaves

I wish I knew how to do this with my photo-editing software. It would probably be very time consuming, but fun. Mother Nature is pretty amazing when you think of it.

Black and White

Look at the eyes on the white cat.
The black cat appears to be nothing BUT eyes.
