Unpackaged Grocery Store in London

An Idea Whose Time Has Come ~ Bring Your Own Container is the theme at Unpackaged, a London grocer offering many of their goods without packaging, or at least in refillable containers. Items range from the usual bulk and whole foods, but also include items not normally found in bulk, like herbs, oils, vinegars, soaps, toiletries, and even wine.

I can remember when most health food stores were like this. They would weigh your container when you entered the store and you could fill up jugs or jars with honey, oil, shampoo, peanut butter, milk, etc. Everything old is new again, right?

How wonderful is that!
I love the concept and it sure speaks of being green!

Would love to stroll through there,

A good idea - even if it's an old one renewed .I do hate pointless packaging - tho I didn't like those open bins some health food stores used to have . The stores might have been healthy but some of the customers were definitely sneezy !
Here in our bit of France the village shop sells wine en vrac . It wouldn't pass any medals being of the robust vin de table rouge variety - but hey it's good enough for lunch !

I love this idea about bringing your own containers. But, I agree with Sue , ewww germy, giggle. I do love the low impact on the planet concept though. Maybe they could put salad bar sneeze guards around everything.
Wishing you happiness, Katherine
