Antique Pennsylvania Watercolor with Dog and Birds . . .

DOWNINGTOWN, PA ~ November 4, 2008
Pook & Pook auction of the Americana Collection of Richard and Rosemarie Machmer.

"I love this thing," Ron Pook said as he sold lot 68, a vibrant Southeastern Pennsylvania watercolor fraktur bookplate dating from the early Nineteenth Century. It measures 2¾ by 4½ inches and depicts a dog chasing four birds. It had a presale estimate of $3/4,000, and apparently it was loved by others, as it sold for $25,740

YIKES ~ Million Dollar Stamp . . .

NEW YORK CITY: While the financial markets may be down, the market for rare stamps seems to be red hot. A single stamp issued by the US post office in 1868 sold for $1,035,000 in an auction here Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Siegel Auction Galleries, which specializes in rare stamp auctions. The price includes the 15 percent buyer's premium.

RISE AND SHINE Rug in my bedroom . . .

My birthday was in September and my mom gave me cash! It usually takes me quite a while to find the perfect remembrance. It's hard for me to buy anything new but when I saw this rug, I had to have it. The price was right; it used up almost all of the money. It is perfect in my bedroom too. Each time I step on it, it will remind me of 2008.

I love this font . . .

A scrap of paper found inside an old book. I have no idea of its age but oh, how I love this font.

I hope someone will design a similar font based on this design that looks like an antique engraved monogram on sterling silver.

Who's The Boss today? . . .

Bruce Springsteen, aka The Boss, spent some quality time with Barack Obama and his daughter Sasha last month in Ohio.

I love this photograph. Everyone looks so happy and so normal!

I can't wait to meet the "First Puppy" ~ the girls really earned this promised reward.

Congratulations to all of us.
