DIY Window Ledge Trees

I love this idea. It takes some advance planning to get the bases ready. If you have several different varieties of evergreens on your property, it would be fun clipping the perfect tips for the log bases. via

Tree in Winter

This tree is lovely in the winter landscape. I love the shape of it and the fence fascinates me. It appears to be a "forever" fence with sturdy wooden posts and rails made of connected metal pipes. via

Gum-Nut Babies: May Gibbs 1916

May Gibbs, Illustration for Gum-Nut Babies, 1916 via. Aren't they adorable? She is a new illustrator to me and her official website is wonderful. Get ready for the sounds of Australian Birds if you click. Go there with a child, if possible and explore the stories and games. Have fun. xo

Americana Christmas Tree

I thought I would be anxious to start taking down my Christmas decorations now that Christmas has passed but I'm not. I think I'll wait until New Year's Day. This tree is nice. via Here's hoping all of your celebrations were as nice as the one I attended at a friend's new home.

Nature's Christmas Decorations

Mother Nature changes her tree-decorating mind daily. On this day, she decided on a combination of light snow and a heavy hoar frost. I like it! Photo by Christian A Schaffer

Snowy December at My Cottage

We have already had 3 snows in December. Nothing major yet and each one was easy to shovel and didn't require snowplowing the driveway. Yay! via

Christmas Tree Grove with Snow

Snow expected overnight here with 2 to 4 inches tomorrow. I guess the snow down south is coming my way. via

Orchard Floor paved w/ Fallen Apples

This photo is stunning. I want to know how the apples got so beautifully arranged. Is this an art installation or exhibit? I will post the answer later if I can find it. In the meantime, just enjoy the visual. Photo: Johnathan Ryan

I posted this photo on Instagram and got my answer. This is not staged. It is an orchard in Ireland after a Hurricane.
The storm brought a lot of rain which swelled nearby rivers and caused the field to flood.
"The flood water gathered all the apples and as it settled down it left a carpet of apples." Jonathan added.

This is how Hurricane Ophelia left the Bulmers Orchard in Tipperary, Ireland in mid October 2017

His stunning shot shows the ground covered in a carpet of apples which were blown off the trees. The apple trees which were covered in fruit are now nearly bare after the storm. Hopefully, this won't cause a cider shortage later in the year...read the article in the Irish Mirror.

Valentine's Day Tree

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE!
This is the final version of a photo taken from my car after cropping.

Before cropping

I didn't like this view with the sign.

Next month they will hang shamrocks and in April there will be Easter Eggs. So fun and I am glad it's around the corner from my cottage.

Reflected Beauty in Winter

So gorgeous.
I love a good winter view.
You can see so much more when trees are bare.

Blue Spruce Looking Blue

I just posted this on Instagram with a copy to Twitter. I just figured out a way to show you too by taking a screen shot with my phone. The new growth on this tree that I planted about 22 years ago looks really blue, doesn't it. I moved a number of trees to my cottage from my former house where I had a farm assessment and over 300 trees planted as saplings. Have a great weekend. xo

Big Shade Tree with Sheep

via
I think it's exciting to think about leaves on the trees, don't you? That storm we had a couple of nights ago knocked down some big branches that Webster and I have already picked up on one of our walks. Yesterday felt like spring in the early part of the day but got colder as the day progressed. I pruned my Limelight hydrangeas and now I'm ready for them to start putting out new growth. Happy Friday. xo

Red Leaves: Too Pretty to Rake

These beautiful leaves were decorating the lawn at a real estate showing yesterday. The intense color of these red Japanese maple leaves was unreal. If they were at my house, I wouldn't rake them either!

October Apples

Old-fashioned ugly apples right off the tree are one of my favorite things about October. I have two friends with trees that are laden with fruit this year. I'm about ready to pick another batch this week. They are so delicious. photo source
