Buy Good Goods

I love this quote by Ray Eames and I 'm crazy about this little plywood elephant too.

The Eames Plywood Elephant was designed in 1945. Conceived both as a children's toy and as a decorative interior object, this newly reproduced Plywood Elephant catches the eye with its cheerful curves and flowing shapes.

This post gets longer and longer as the day progresses. I found this great animated film about these toy elephants called A GATHERING OF ELEPHANTS. It's wonderful!

Antique Pig Family

I just walked past these hand-carved pigs and snapped a photo without rearranging them. They were probably part of a Noah's Ark. I should have taken the time to move them around for their debut on my blog but I didn't. Sorry. It's Sunday and these were Sunday toys. Check back, my OCD will make me take another picture. :-)

Much better ~ I'm happy now.

Cool and Goofy Short Film about LEGOs

Don't let this scary face keep you from watching this film about legos. Everybody knows somebody who was once obsessed with these small building bricks and maybe this little film will bring them back again. I don't see the young children I know playing with them these days and it's a shame because legos are the best toys for budding architects and inventors. Watch and laugh and pass it on.

A Horse for Christmas

I've always loved this vintage Christmas card. I'm happy this little girl got her horse from Santa.

Orbit The Orphaned Owl Loves His Stuffed Toy

In his five short weeks of life, Orbit hasn’t met many other owls.

So he isn’t at all worried that his new best friend doesn’t hoot back.

The orphaned chick is perfectly content in the company of the stuffed bird perched next to him and is never far from his side.

Orbit, a common barn owl, was given the toy by Lyndsey Wood, his care giver at Folly Farm, near Narberth in West Wales.

She said: ‘A friend suggested that I find something like a toy owl to stop Orbit from feeling lonely. I thought he might try to eat it, but he just cuddles up to it and goes to sleep.’

All you need is a friend. Somehow I keep finding these wonderful stories about orphaned baby animals and you know I'll keep sharing them with you! I found this one on Tumbler.com

Beautiful Early American Dollhouse

This is wonderful. I am so glad Nancy Allen's signed dollhouse survived in such good shape. If only those walls could talk. Massive size: 47" high x 5'6" wide. Image found on 1stdibs but was sold.

Antique Marbles

I opened a drawer in my studio and found a pile of old marbles I've collected over the years. These are Bennington and clay marbles from the 19th century photographed on an old coverlet.

World's Best Dollhouse

This early period Georgian Doll House with a  Palladian influence is absolutely amazing, isn't it? It's certainly one a girl would never outgrow. She and her mother could play here and decorate in miniature forever. It really is an architectural masterpiece. I want one too.

Radio Flyer

Giant Radio Flyer Wagon from the 1933 World's Fair. Look at the people in the photo to get an idea of how huge this was. Did it survive? Where it is? I like it.

This vintage tin noisemaker is amazingly loud. I'll use it to ring in the New Year.
