DIY Wine Cork Pen/Pencil Holder

This looks like a clever gift to craft using your wine corks and your glue gun. Photo found here. Christmas is two months from today so you'd better get started.

A Few Decoupage Plates Plus

I've never done much decoupage but when I see things like this, I think it would be fun. The possibilities are endless when done on the reverse side of clear glass items. I think this process is probably a little trickier than conventional decoupage because the glue has to be put on the front of the print. Here we have three rectangular plates, a switch plate cover and a paperweight. via

Ice Pop Wreath for The Birds

This would be a great thing to make in a ring mold for the birds, wouldn't it? As it melts, the seeds and fresh cranberries would drop for the ground feeders. It's lovely. Must make one in December for my fine feathered friends. Here is a DIY wreath made by a child.

River Rock Herb Markers

There's plenty of time to make some of these as gifts for your gardening friends. You could make paperweights too for a busy person's desk. Personalize them with MAIL, BILLS, TO DO, FILE, SHRED, FAMILY MEMBERS' NAMES, etc. I always pick up smooth stones when I see them.

Hooked Rug with Not Quite White Owls

Not Quite White
21" x 27"
#8 and #6 cut wool on linen
Designed and hooked by
Karen Larsen
Crows’s Foot Farm Designs
Elliottsburg, Pennsylvania
2012

I recently reconnected with an old friend from this area who now lives in Pennsylvania. She has been hooking since 2006 and one of her original rug designs is on the November/December 2012 cover of Rug Hooking Magazine
Read about why these owls are "Not Quite White" in a portion of the article Creating White from Colors. I think she did a wonderful job, don't you? Her home was just photographed for an upcoming feature in Rug Beat. The owl rug looks beautiful on her dining room wall.

DIY Stamped Christmas Wrap w/ Tutorial

I've always been a fan of brown paper Christmas wrap and love the idea of carving a custom stamp to decorate it. Fabulous tutorial here. Once you make your stamp, it can be used for gift tags, Christmas Cards, Christmas ornaments, and you could probably even decorate cookies with it.

DIY Angel Wings

I love these angel wings made from old book pages or newspaper glued over a stiffer material. I want to make some for Christmas decorations. These would be good for Halloween too. I want to make a small version for my Staffordshire Spaniel on the fireplace mantel. I hope all of the guardian angels are on call during this terrifying time with the predicted hurricane. Be safe everyone.

Wonderful Rabbit Sculpture

I love this sculpture by Olga Ziemska made of cut twig pieces, adhesive, enamel, and fiberglass.

Here is a close-up of the heartwood used as mosaic pieces.

This sculpture was created in 2011 and exhibited outdoors for the 7th Annual Public Art campaign celebrating the Chinese Lunar Year in Cleveland. Read more here.

Bee Quilt

It has been over a month since the beginning of the bee quilt. Hand printed bees on hand dyed fabric. Wonder how it's coming along? I love it so far! via
