Perfect Spot to Sit and Read

This chair looks very comfortable and it has a matching ottoman and to me, that's a huge plus. The lamp is on the left and there's a side table. I love the mahogany piece against the wall and the free-standing bookcase. I wish I could see the rest of the room before I declare it perfect. via

The Nicest Office

This would be great for me. I could have all of my research books in one place and plenty of room for my tall flat files full of prints and maps. Love it. Would like to see the rest of this room please. via

Staircase Bookcases

This is very efficient use for a difficult space, isn't it? Bookcases everywhere is my idea of heaven. Have you said hello to October yet? via

Bookplate with Bad Dogs

This is a pretty terrifying image, isn't it? Do you think J. A Kennard had a lot of experiences like this? I certainly hope not! The image is signed by the artist, lower right.
I can't find the specific blog post, but it's somewhere on Confessions of a Bookplate Junkie.

Fireplace flanked by Bookcases

This looks like the perfect cozy spot to sit and enjoy the fire or curl up with a good book, doesn't it? If a nap is called for, you're in the right place. via

Amazing Built-in Bookcase

These people were so smart to put in a bookcase instead of a raised panel. It's perfect for their larger antiquarian books. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes.

"I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves. Anna Quindlen"

These homeowners managed to do both!!! photo source

My Bedroom Bookshelves, Decluttered

The lower three shelves on the left side have been pared down considerably. I'm getting a lot of pleasure looking at this new arrangement from my bed which is reflected in the TV screen. Little by little, I'm helping a good cause and they are helping me in return. The annual auction and sale in tents and outdoors at the firehouse is less than two weeks away and I'm getting nervous about missing my chance to donate. Books are first. Wish me luck. xo

Living Room Corner in My Cottage

I haven't posted any photos of inside the cottage lately. Here's a corner in my living room near one of the French doors leading out to the balcony. It has been cool and breezy for the past couple of days and I have done some quality mowing. Tomorrow I shall deal with the weeds in places too tight for the mower. Weed whacking is something I enjoy once I get set up with all of my long electric cords. I put it off as long as I possibly can because it's a pain. Have a great weekend. xo

Wonderful Library Wall

via
This looks like a fabulous room and I think there's a fireplace to the left. Don't you love the secret book doors? I want to see more of this antique home. Look at the size of those floor boards!

Bookcases Around A Window

via
I love this window treatment and I used it myself in my last house. If you surround a window with bookcases, you get the illusion that the walls of the house are very thick as in a stone house. It gives you a deep windowsill too which I love. The bookcases in this photo are the perfect size. Not too wide so the shelves won't sag from the weight of the books.

Books are Your Loyal Friends

I created this repeat blog post a long time ago and I still love it. I found the perfect image for this wonderful quote about books. It's true, isn't it? The big melt continues and spring is trying her best to break through the snow piles. I can see parts of my driveway I haven't seen in ages and for the first time I can remember, there's no snow on top of my car. Hope you can say the same. xo
