Wonderful Wall of Books

I love books and I love cubbies so this bookcase wall really caught my eye. I'm not at all comfortable with an open fire surrounded by all that wood though. Something like that would send the building/fire inspectors into orbit around here. via

Bookcase with Dog Painting

I adore dog portraits and bookcases full of books. Do you personalize your home library shelves with other items too? via

Bookcase in My Bedroom

Here's a portion of my cocoon-like bedroom. It's only big enough for a double bed with a table on one side and a floor lamp on the other. It has a window on either side and I love it. Small is the new big. This bookcase was an afterthought when my renovation was going on. It was designed for the living room but I didn't like the way it looked there and it turned out to be perfect here. I honestly can't imagine my bedroom without it.

Home Library with Fireplace

Yes please. I'd like a fire today while I sit and read. A cold front came in and it's very chilly and windy. via

Simply Super Home Library

The only thing better than bookshelves is book cubbies. I adore this wonderful home library, don't you? The upholstered fender around the stove would be a good place to sit and defrost while reviewing a stack of books.

DIY Book Lover's Library in France

Wow. This is every book collector's dream. It's a French Country House Library constructed from 60 Billy / Benno Bookcases from Ikea. How wonderful. Lots of pictures and text showing the project start to finish with instructions HERE. View a slideshow on Flickr with really large photos here. I'm impressed, aren't you?

Library Ladder Love

Do you think a library ladder could help me overcome my fear of heights? I do love them so. On regular ladders I get nervous after the third rung but somehow I think I would be okay on this one.*

If you are considering selling or buying used furniture online you must read this. It is the most hilarious thing I have ever read. And so true. I am still laughing. Thank you Justine Taylor.

Spectacular Library in Dublin

This is a wonderful sight, isn't it? I'm not sure whether it's a library or a bookstore and the location is a mystery. I could never climb that high on a ladder. Heights are just about the only thing I'm afraid of.

A reader just advised me this is the Library at Trinity College in Dublin. Thanks so much!

Happy Reading Over The Weekend | Home Library

Don't you love this home library in a hallway? It's Saturday and there's no school so this little girl can read the day away. I'm planning on some outside spring cleanup. The sun is out and the temperature is rising. Enjoy your weekend whatever you do.

Wonderful Hanging Bookshelves

I love these painted hanging bookshelves. And the rest of the room plus furnishings too. Hope your weekend was as lovely as mine. Is tomorrow a holiday for you or do you have to work? Some people will be off for Presidents Day.

Dibs On These Bedroom Bookcases

The only things that would make this picture more perfect would be reading lamps attached to both sides of the bookcases. Agreed? Dibs, this room is mine because I love it the best. The natural light even comes in from the left when you are in bed. Swoon. found here

I like the black bookshelves in this room. The whole design just "works" so well, doesn't it? You know how much I love floor-to-ceiling bookcases. via

Bookcases Make This Reading Room

I love this room of bookcases. It's a wonderful reading room for one. I would add only a matching ottoman. Absolute heaven.
Book. Book. Book.

Attention All Boys ~ Learn Carpentry

Me too. This was posted by an 18 year old blogger from New Zealand. I agree and I am a zillion years older. A carpenter is about the best thing you can be and too few young people today realize this. You can build the things in your head that are so hard to describe to a hired man. You can never have too many bookshelves, can you?
I recently found a really interesting article about Thomas Jefferson's BOOK BOXES with the dimensions he used for his. These sound perfect and I really want a set or two. They have built reproductions at Monticello. Thomas Jefferson designed them and thought they were the perfect way to store, display, and travel with his books. They look very simple, don't they? Bookshelves don't have to be ornamental in any way. The books they hold are the decoration.
