Happy St. Patrick's Day

I'm very late in posting this greeting as St. Patrick's Day will soon be over. A friend came for lunch and I honestly don't know what happened to the rest of the day. There's plenty of daylight left for me to try and do something constructive though. Wish me luck.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I made this Irish Blessing long ago.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY.
TODAY, EVERYONE IS IRISH!

I created this one too with a dog image photographed from my Royal Book of Crests.

Shamrocks, Planted by Leprechauns

For some reason, I frequently get wild shamrocks growing along with my seedlings. In this case, it's a rosemary cutting. I have some growing along with a geranium in one of my pantry windows too. Happy St. Patrick's Day, dear friends. Today, everyone is Irish. xo

My Only Visible Snowdrops

I covered this clump of snowdrops before the first Nor'easter a couple of weeks ago. Since then we have had two more so I never took this cloche off. It really came in handy and the spring bulbs look very happy in their own special hothouse. My other galanthus are buried under about a foot of snow but they will be fine once all the snow I shoveled on top of them melts. They are the earliest spring bulbs to bloom and they are very hardy and they come by their name honestly. I plan on enjoying this sunny weekend with beautiful blue skies and no clouds. These sweet little flowers can double as my good luck shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day. xo

Look Closely for Shamrocks

Growing alongside the rosemary cutting, you will see three tiny shamrocks. They came up out of nowhere just in time for St. Patrick's Day on Friday. Aren't they sweet?

Irish Blessings for St. Patrick's Day

I made all of these Irish Blessings over the years and still love each one. Wear something green and have a Happy St. Patrick's Day.

Irish Proverb for St. Patrick's Day

I scanned the dog from my antiquarian book on Royal Crests. After inserting the quote and putting it on a bed of shamrocks it became perfect for St. Patrick's Day.

Irish Shamrock (Trifolium dubium)

"May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow, and may trouble avoid you wherever you go." An Irish Blessing

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Everyone's Irish today.

The Official Irish Shamrock is Trifolium dubium. It is pictured in an Irish Belleek bowl planted in genuine Irish dirt.

Green Pound Cake for St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is March 17th so you have one whole week to buy the ingredients to make this green pound cake. The recipe makes two loaves. You probably have all of the ingredients on hand right now. The only things I don't have are buttermilk and avocado. Actually, I do have one avocado but need another one to make 1-1/2 cups. Market day is today so I'll buy several more. This looks good and the green color is natural without the addition of food coloring. Pistachio ice cream is green, isn't it? That would be good on the side. Yum. Everybody's Irish on St. Patrick's Day.
Avocado Pound Cake
I think I'll eliminate one cup of sugar. I don't like things that are too sweet. I'm sure that won't make a difference in the baking chemistry, will it?
