No Snow - So Happy
This Snowy Owl is happy and so am I. For some reason my area dodged the snow bullet and I am thrilled.
Both of these photos were captured at The Jersey Shore by @magyarolas on Instagram. Aren't they beautiful? I hope I will see a Snowy Owl in the wild some day!

Two Beautiful Owls
These two night owls might be able to stay up all night but I cannot. I am getting ready to call it a day and watch a movie. I had another busy day outside and got more things on the laundry list done. It was a good day and I hope yours was too. See you tomorrow. Good night. image

Gorgeous Owl
Forgive me for being so tardy with my morning post. I'm still running around in circles here at the cottage but it's good to be busy. I hope you are having a great last weekend in June. Can you believe the year is half over? Where did it go? This owl certainly has good taste in perching places, doesn't he? I love the wrought iron fence or gate. via

Owl Head Bump (Kiss on Forehead)
I can't believe today is the first day of June, can you? I'm ready for summer now so bring it on. I turned on my air conditioning yesterday and about 5 minutes later an alarm when off in my head. I forgot to take the cover off the outside unit. I ran to the wall and turned off the thermostat and ran outside to take the cover off. The fans on the unit would not go on so I called my repair company. Luckily they came over at the end of the day and fixed it. They said I was the second person idiot this week to do this very thing. You can be sure I'll never do it again. Click here to see this image in full resolution. It's great.
Happy June - I hope you will have a great weekend.

The Eyes Have It.
Whooooo is looking at you?
Have you ever seen such an amazing grouping of owl eyes? I haven't. What a nice family portrait! The parents have very long moustaches and beards that completely hide their beaks. Wonder why? via

Hooked Rug with Not Quite White Owls
Not Quite White
21" x 27"
#8 and #6 cut wool on linen
Designed and hooked by
Karen Larsen
Crows’s Foot Farm Designs
Elliottsburg, Pennsylvania
2012
I recently reconnected with an old friend from this area who now lives in Pennsylvania. She has been hooking since 2006 and one of her original rug designs is on the November/December 2012 cover of Rug Hooking Magazine.
Read about why these owls are "Not Quite White" in a portion of the article Creating White from Colors. I think she did a wonderful job, don't you? Her home was just photographed for an upcoming feature in Rug Beat. The owl rug looks beautiful on her dining room wall.

Cat and Owl Calligraphy - So Beautiful
Click photo to enlarge and you will see that there is a mouse in the owl's beak. I dearly love this folky antique drawing snd handwriting exercise.
The fragile calligraphy drawing was produced by the schoolteacher, Jacob Labotz, as part of a series of sketches with poems that he gave to students sometime in the 18th century. via BibliOdyssey
The Dutch text reads:
"De kat spreekt tegen den Uijl
Uijl gij doet mijn onregt
de muis is mijn toegelegt
Den uijl spreekt tegen de kat
Kat gij moet weten
het ongegoste broot word't meest gegeten"
I think there is some sort of dialogue going on about who deserves the mouse.
