Leaf Detail

Sorry. Image not working.
Love the raised vein pattern on the back of this leaf. Mother Nature is the best designer.

Ural Owl in The Forest

Ural owl, native to Europe and Northern Asia,
He's looking cautiously around the corner from his forest lookout. This is a beautiful owl and a beautiful photograph. It's somehow comforting to look at this peaceful image as I watch the news this morning about the carnage in Paris.

Oak Leaf with Rain Drops

Photographed on Tuesday morning on my first walk of the day with Webster the Wonder Dog. We haven't been out yet this morning and he's waiting patiently at my feet for his breakfast. It's raining softly again now and is supposed to continue all day. I feel sorry for my neighbors who are putting on a new roof. They got all the new plywood on yesterday so they are buttoned up. Isn't this always what happens? Beautiful weather for weeks at a time until you schedule outside work. I still have to pinch myself about my unbelievable luck two years ago in September 2013 when I had my house painted and woodwork repaired with storybook beautiful weather every day until the job was finished. I think that will result in my paint job lasting for a very long time.

Tiny Wild Grapes

The wild grapes are beginning to form on all the grape vines. I have to admit, I've never gotten to taste one after all these years. The birds get them first and that's fine with me. I love that my property produces food for the birds with the wild grapes following the wild raspberries. The birds leave plenty of ripe berries for me simply because they are so plentiful. Enjoy this beautiful Sunday. xo

Pretty in Pink: Flamingo with Chick

Isn't this a beautiful photo? Somehow I never imagined what these big birds looked like when they were hatchlings. via

I have one lone daisy in my meadow so far. I snapped this pic on my walk with Webster yesterday evening.

Beauty in The Forest

I would love to have an outside lamp post crafted exactly like this. Mother Nature is the best designer, isn't she? via

I love this photograph of a path winding around giant tree trunks. What a wonderful place to get lost.

Beautiful Indigo Blue Bird

Isn't this little bird spectacularly beautiful? I like the nest too. I hope this is the female sitting on some tiny eggs.

Serious Owl on A Branch

I love this little guy. He looks as if he's having a stare down and I'm pretty sure he will win. via

Fire in The Sky and A Book

This photo stopped me in my tracks this morning. Can you imagine waking up to a sunrise like this? It would be like being on top of the world, wouldn't it? via
I had a very interesting weekend. On Saturday morning I woke up to a very cold house with no heat. I immediately called the emergency hotline at the gas company and arranged an appointment for service by or before noon. Later, I was notified he would be much later. Then I called my plumber as a backup. The gas company guy came around 1:30 and it took him a while but he finally located the problem. I was thrilled. The pilot light was out and he needed to replace a defective thermocouple, whatever that is. The bill was very reasonable too. I called and canceled the plumber.
I started a roaring fire in my living room fireplace in the morning and kept it going until I went to bed. It was so nice. The pets liked it too. All is well this morning with a freezing rain. I'm on the last 100 pages of a great book so that's what I'll be doing until I finish it today.

"A fast-moving tale about the world of rare books. A wonderful story with absolutely superb casting." read more here. It's a nice fat book too -- 466 pages. I really don't want it to end. See you later.
