The Crocodile in the Bedroom

Moral of the Fable:
Without a doubt, there is such a thing as too much order.

Three pages from one of my books.

FABLES
Written and Illustrated by
ARNOLD LOBEL
1980

My plan is to post one fable until I have shown you the entire book.

We all love the Arnold Lobel books!! My children would always ask for them when they were little. Oldest just turned 48 !! They grew up with Frog and Toad and all the wonderful adventures they had together and Mouse Tales . So many wonderful memories. My one grand has never heard any of them. He's now 11 and his Mom always bought what she wanted him to hear. The other two are 3 and 5 and my daughter needs to get all of the children's books from my shelves. I have been remiss.

Caroline -- YES, you must get those books to your daughter so her little ones can enjoy the books she grew up with. This one on fables won the Caldecott Medal as the best illustrated book in 1980. Mine is a large format paperback ex-library copy. xo, Rosemary

I have always loved fables. Great illustrations! When I looked up Arnold Lobel I learned that he had a very difficult and rather short life. I hope his work brought him much satisfaction!

Pam -- I have always loved fables too and these are very unique. Thank you for researching Arnold Lobel. His works brough delight to the children who grew up them as you can see from the comments from parents who read them aloud. I hope he got great satisfaction creating them too. Have a great weekend. xo, Rosemary
