It is an absolutely charming story about a family who works together. This story tells what they do every day of the week. The children help with every chore cheerfully. That's familiar to me. I recognize those people but I don't know why. A book?

Linda Sand -- Yes, it's a book illustration from a 1951 children's book entitled PAPA SMALL by Lois Lenski. In the early days before everyone had a TV this is how children learned and were entertained. xo, Rosemary

I haven't thought of the Smalls in years. Our elementary school library was where I became acquainted with them and when I opened your post I felt a soft thud (a good one though!) in my chest. So happy to see them again!

They are the cutest family!

Coco -- The same artist illustrated Betsy-Tacy series too but the Smalls are way cuter. I missed those books that were your favorites but I absolutely love this illustration. I can see why you got that good thud in your chest. Glad I found it for you. xo, Rosemary

I have always loved Lois Lenski books and their illustrations, so I have collected several of them over the years. They are definitely some of my favorites. Papa Small is a new title to me, and I love this picture!

auntp -- Papa Small is new to me too. I think there were several books featuring the Small family with illustrations by Lois Lenski. I adore this one too with the whole family. I wonder why Mama Small is angry? She should be happy the little Smalls are trying to learn plumbing from Papa Small. Maybe she wants to mop the floor. xo, Rosemary

UPDATE: I actually read this book online at the Internet Archive. I posted a copy of the cover and the link so you can read it too. It's beyond charming. You have to "join" but it's very simple. You just have to enter your email and think of a password. Then you can "read" the book too.

I updated the post with new links.

Enjoy. xo, Rosemary

auntp -- Now that I have read the book, I see that Mama Small isn't angry at all. Those two lines near her face are just extensions of the baseboard. I sent this picture to my plumber who is the manager of a plumbing supply store and he is going to print it and put it up at the service window. He loved it and I'm sure all the plumbers who come in for parts will too.
