Now Watching: MONARCH OF THE GLEN

MONARCH OF THE GLEN on Tubi

I stumbled on this BBC series with seven seasons that aired 2000-2005 and I absolutely love it. The characters are wonderful as is the Scottish castle and the countryside of the vast estate. It is on Amazon Prime if you are a member and on Tubi to watch free with ads. I put the link for TUBI if you are a cord cutter like me. I think it might be on BritBox too. January is the perfect month to start watching a long series with a total of 64 episodes. I'm so glad I found it. I'm sure many of you saw it years ago and might want to watch again.

A list of all the episodes can be found here.
Enjoy! xo

UPDATE: At the time of the above posting I knew one of the main characters was familiar gut couldn't quite figure out who he was. Mystery solved! It was Julian Fellowes of Downton Abbey fame. I thought he might have been influenced by this Scottish series and did some research. I found this link very informative. There are other links within the article that are interesting too.

Have you realised that the actor who plays Kilwillie is the man who wrote Downton Abbey?

I’ll put Monarch of the Glen in my queue. Thank you. You might also like Inspector Alleyn series on Tubi. The episodes seem to be different from the books but I like the characters and the clothes and settings are fabulous. Sadly, only two seasons.

Brenda -- Thank you for the recommendation of Inspector Alleyn. I'll be sure to put it on my list of things to watch on Tubi. I think I like it already. xo, Rosemary

the veg artist -- It took me a while to realize who he was and I finally figured out he was Julian Fellowes. I wonder if he got many of his ideas for Downton Abbey from being in this series? I found a fascinating article about him.

auntp -- Paula, I am enjoying this series so very much. It is set in modern times with Apple laptop computers and fax machines but the oldest resident is stuck in the past. It is delightfully funny without being silly. I like watching older series that have run their course better than the newer ones that end before the next season has even been filmed. xo, Rosemary

Isn't this the best?! We've been watching this since early December. I think the next revisit will be the original "All Creatures Great and Small".

itztru -- I adore this series too. Will look and see if the original series of "All Creatures Great and Small" is on Tubi. Thanks for the suggestion. Brenda suggested I should watch Inspector Alleyn on Tubi and that will be my next program to binge watch. xo, Rosemary
