New Acquisition with 16 Drawers

There are no words that can express the turmoil of the last two days buying and arranging pick up and delivery of this 7'4" wide oak piece with 16 drawers and wonderful original brass pulls. But I did it thanks to two good friends; one with  with big truck and a trailer and both with strong arms. I had the perfect wall down on my lower level where my mother lived until 2012. I have just been using that entire lower level where she lived as storage but buying this piece is giving new life to that area. I have enjoyed being down there because I can walk out of this particular room and be on ground the level with my nesting bluebirds.

It's cooler down there too and I think I will enjoy it immensely this summer. These tired bones are ready for bed now. xo

The quality of the antique brass drawer pulls is unsurpassed. They are very thick and even the screws are beautiful. This piece was originally in a science lab in a New England girls' college.

It’s a wonderful piece. I can see why you bought it.
Think of all the things you can use the drawers for! 🤗

Linda A. -- You are right! I can't wait to start filling them up. I don't have much storage in my cottage and this is just what I needed.

Another great acquisition, Rosemary. I can see that it was probably a big challenge to move it into place. Thank goodness for strong friends.

Pam -- Somehow, all the puzzle pieces fell into place perfectly and I couldn't be more pleased. The previous owners moved this monster 4 times over 40 years but it's in its final resting place on my watch.

That is the most beautiful piece, Rosemary! I can't think of any decor in which it wouldn't fit perfectly. What a find! You will use and appreciate it more than anyone I can think of. (Well, except me.) ;o)

Oh my goodness, what a beautiful piece! I can understand why you put the effort into making the purchase. I don’t recall seeing the lower level of your cottage. Looking forward to following along as you re-feather that part of your nest.

Kathy -- I don't think I ever posted any photos of my downstairs. I still have loads of work to do down there to make up for years of neglect. But I will share more pics when they are worthy.

Mama Pea -- It must have been meant for me because the ad was 6 days old and I was the only person to inquire. I bought it right away and worried about moving it later. The drawers are quite commodious and I desperately need more storage in my cottage. This piece ticks all the boxes and is beautiful as well. I'm glad you appreciate it too.

Do you know what would have been stored in those drawers at the college?

Linda Sand -- Thank you. It is beautiful and utilitarian as well.

Gail, northern California -- Gail, I was told lab equipment. There is a label inside one of the drawers with a girl's name and MASKS.

What a start to decorating this room! It looks like this piece was made to go on that wall:) Can't wait to see what you do with the room in the future. **I've ran out of rooms I can decorate/buy any more antiques!

Karen -- I was determined to find a place for this huge piece and I did. It turned out to be the easiest and maybe the only location for it and the whole orchestration was really wonderful. I think I've already mentioned this in a previous comment but I can't believe this "for sale post" was 6 days old and I was the first person to reply. It really was meant for me! I am probably out of room in my cottage for any more antiques ... but maybe not. We shall see.
