My Cottage after Plowing

AFTER THE PLOWING
My entrance looks like a super market parking lot. I wonder how long it will take that snow mountain to melt? My driveway that goes down to my red barn/garage was plowed too for the first time ever and now my car is parked up front in anticipation of more snow on Friday, my phone says a 90% chance.😱

Oh my, those snow piles remind me of my teenage years back in Minnesota. I know you will be happy to see them gone. Fingers crossed that you don't get any more!

I have never seen snow that deep, nor have I lived in a snowy climate. I hope you have prepared for this blizzard, Rosemary.

Nice picture but not easy to cope with i expect

Catherine -- I liked it better undisturbed; now I will have lots of extra work in the spring putting all the gravel back where it belongs.

lisa -- I was prepared and still am for the next one tomorrow. Now that my car is parked in the front I can deal with the next storm by myself.

Pam -- I can remember winters when the snow never melted when I lived in Pennsylvania in my youth. I have been spoiled by a number of mild winters lately but I have to admit the exercise felt good. Too bad shoveling isn't an Olympic sport because I have just the shovel for a competition. I bought it at a garage sale 30 years ago from a man who was moving to New Mexico and I have never seen another one like it. It's the first one I grab in my collection because I have others in case this one ever fails me.

You DO have snow! I know exactly what you mean about having the right shovel. I'm short so need a snow shovel with a relatively short handle. The good one I had for several years broke two years ago and I've never found one that feels "just right" since. The relocation of gravel by the plow trucks always makes a mess. Makes one wish for asphalt!

Mama Pea -- Did you save the shovel that broke? Maybe you can repair it. I am going to try to scrape the gravel back where it belongs as the snow melts rather than waiting for a complete melt leaving it in a pile. Asphalt is definitely easier but I prefer the country look of gravel and the way it drains the runoff in a downpour and the snowmelt too.
