I just ordered 25 window shades from The handwerk shop in Portland OR. They have been making handmade cloth roller shades for over 27 years. You can see their amazing shades and read reviews on their website. There are a couple other companies that make them as well in Seattle.
Caroline -- Thank you SO much for providing this information about custom roller shades covered in fabric. I look forward to spending time at the Handwerk Shop: http://thehandwerkshop.com/ xo, Rosemary
Yes I spent a lot of hours researching who provides the best old fashioned cloth roller shades. Handwerk shop does beautiful work and has years of reviews and pictures sent in by their customers. I can hardly wait till mine will be ready. The air in Portland is really bad at present so it's going to be awhile till they are ready.
I have always loved roller shades, I don't know why they fell out of favor. I had them in my bedroom for years and I loved them. I'm shopping for roller shades right away! Thank you for the post!
Caroline -- Thanks again for passing along your research on roller shades. I'm sure yours will be worth the wait as Portland tries to recover from those awful fires. xo, Rosemary
Constance -- Everything old is new again. Roller shades used to be so readily available and then they vanished. I am not surprised that so many people are liking the thoughts of having them again in their homes. Good luck shopping for yours. xo, Rosemary

Such a nice room. I really like the use of neutrals, but the various textures add interest. Great view and I'm a bit envious of that millwork!
Pam -- You are right to be envious of the custom millwork. It
s too pretty to cover up with window treatments, isn't it?
