Ball Fringe Curtains and Snow

I can remember making kitchen curtains trimmed with ball fringe long ago. There was a house for sale near me last year that had crisp white ones like these in every window and they were so beautiful inside and especially from the street view. I still think they are charming, don't you? Will you stay up tonight to ring in the New Year? I will try but I'm usually not successful. Photo found here. Here is the link to order ready-made white ball fringe curtains from the Vermont Country Store. Thanks, Pam for mentioning this source in the comments.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I do love the simplicity of the ball fringed curtains against the snow. It is magical! I rarely see the new year in of late.. I prefer my rest too much.. I never try to derail a sleepy feeling, but give in to every time...mainly because of my inevitable wakefulness during the watches of the night... those offer perfect times for prayer though, so I can not complain! Happy New Year!

I love these curtains! I had them years ago in a bedroom, and have recently been considering purchasing them again. Are they too old-fashioned? I don't know, but each time I see them, I love them. Happy New Year! I enjoy your blog so much, even if I don't always comment.

Kathy -- Ball fringe curtains are old-fashioned but never out of fashion. You can't keep a classic down. I think you should definitely get them again simply because they make you happy.
Happy new year.

They are beautiful. When I was little my mother remarried and my stepfather had curtains in the living room like these. His sister made them for him when he bought the house. I loved them but they were soon replaced with heavy dark drapes. I've been wanting to set aside some time for sewing and thank you so much for this wonderful post; I will be moving in the next few months and the first thing I'm going to do is make lovely, happy white curtains with ball fringe for my living room. Happy New Year

Oh my goodness, I haven't seen or even thought of ball fringe trims in YEARS! Yes, they are lovely, sweet and so pretty.

My husband and I haven't even tried to stay up until midnight on New Year's Eve for a long time. And we don't go out anymore because the roads are dangerous with all the revelers who don't have the good sense to have a designated driver on this (for some) alcohol filled night. But I do raise my glass of kombucha (!) or perhaps egg nog to you, Rosemary, and hope you continue your delightful blog for many years to come. Happy New Year of 2020!

They are charming! And pretty! Makes me wish I had them, and lived somewhere where it snowed. I don't think anything that one loves ever goes out of fashion. Tonight I will be watching re-runs of Downton Abbey on my local PBS station, and undoubtedly will be asleep before the New Year arrives. Happy New Year to you, Rosemary!

I've always loved ball-fringed white curtains. Sure takes me back in time. Years ago, I had a friend who loved them so much that she put them in every window of her cottage-style home. It looked lovely from the inside, but also from the outside, too. I believe they still sell them at the Vermont Country Store. Happy New Year, Rosemary! I'll try to stay up, but if I'm too tired, I'll give in and go to bed.

Using this occasion to wish you a Happy New Year too.

AND, a big thank you for all your lovely posts. Always a thrill when there's new one.

P.S. I'll say again, I wish you were my neighbor. I'd hire you for tech support! Nothing fazes you, or intimidates and that's what it takes.

P.S.S. I won't make it 'til midnight. Already nodding a bit and it's a little after 9 on the west coast.

I love these curtains....snow or no snow! I am a decorator, and I ordered them for years from Country Curtains headquartered at the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, Mass. I live in California! They are classic and lovely!

Unfortunately, Country Curtains went out of business a few years ago. Sob! I hope the Red Lion Inn is still there!

I am sure you can find them somewhere! Google them!!!

Me, too. Ordered these from Country Curtains when I first was married (1967). Two pair with ball fringe just like these and another with a sweet brown pattern on white. They traveled about with us to numerous postings with the military and always brightened windows in each home.
Happy New Year, Rosemary. From year to year, you bring countless insights and images to us and I am deeply grateful. . . a true fan of Content in a Cottage. Thank you.
Cheers.
