Happy First Day of Spring.
It's not until 5:00 this afternoon, but it's here. It will be quite a while before real tulips bloom so here's one of my John Derian tulip plates to help you celebrate. The decoupage paperweight below is from his shop.
I have given up on growing tulips because the deer and rabbits love them. Daffodil bulbs are poisonous and pest free so I'll stick with them.

I am tired of the moles getting my tulips. Must be them because the tops lay over and the bottom gone.
I heard to plant daffodils around them or plant them in rat wire and it helps.
Beautiful plate.
betsy
They're pretty Rosemary. I finally put up a fence, so no deer. I miss it when they used to come visit me in the Spring with their little ones. Such pretty little animals, but they sure did wreak havoc on my roses. Not sure about rabbits. I did plant some tulip bulbs and they are just now peeking their heads up above the ground, so we shall see if they bloom before being eaten by the locals!
I love tulips! So anxious for spring flowers this year.
A neighbor brought a dozen beautiful tulips to my door two days ago, such a treat. I love daffodils as year over year they multiply and are so cheerful especially after a gray dreary winter. I have some coming up and will plant even more of them this fall. It's been a long gray winter here in Utah and although spring has officially arrived there is always the possibility of Mother Nature gifting us with more snow...I hope she doesn't play that trick this year.
Lovely tulip plate Rosemary, perfect for the first day of Spring.
