Suffragette on A Scooter 1916

Yes, she is a suffragette, and yes, that is her scooter. English socialite and activist Florence Priscilla, Lady Norman, CBE was given this Autoped as a birthday present by her husband, Sir Henry Norman. She used it to travel to her office in central London. Florence was following in her mother's footsteps in her active support for women's suffrage. Her CBE (Commander of the British Empire) came when she ran a hospital in France during World War I.

Well should would fit in right now with all the scooters that are in use now. It's driving some cities crazy.

I love that her husband gave the scooter to her and that she took to it. Might she have hinted for it?
Tagging onto Victoria's comment . . . I now have first hand knowledge of city scooters. NO, didn't ride one. Recently, driving on narrow neighborhood streets I came up behind a young man riding one of these. He was barely visible. Hope he safely made it home.
