Rosemary, of course, it is you who provides for me my first viewing of the Blue Footed Booby. I have heard this name mentioned and while believing they existed, never pressed to know more. Now I am staring at them not knowing what to say . . . where to look, except, of course, at their very blue feet. But, then there's all the rest . . . so unique, confident, inquisitive. Wonder what they have to say about our feet?
Well that's a new one for me! Had to do some research on them. It seems the bluer their feet, the more attractive they are to the opposite sex. Who knew???
These are beautiful birds. We saw them in the Galapagos when we visited while cruising on our boat in the Pacific. They have an interesting courtship dance raising their feel and bowing and raising their heads until they coordinate. Their nests are a simple circle of guano and a few sticks they move about. The colour of their feet are another of nature’s mysteries. Regards Janine

His feet aren't blue, they're turquoise. I wonder why they are called Boobys.
I absolutely adore this bird!!!

Thank you, Rosemary, for this beautiful bright beginning to my day.
