HAPPY JULY 4th 2018

Things are so much cooler since we had a torrential rain yesterday. You can see the mist coming back in the distance because the earth was hotter than the air.

Enjoy the fireworks tonight.

Remember this? It is an old composition I made on my kitchen counter with cherries and a flag made from safety pins and colored beads.

Here is another fireworks display.

Happy 4th to you also, Rosemary.

The Pawnee fire in an adjacent county is about 85 percent contained but another fire in Yolo and Napa counties threatens to spread even more. Temporary cooler temperatures may help our poor exhausted firefighters. Summers anymore in California are met with a sense of dread. Your torrential rain sounds wonderful!

Gail, northern California -- Oh Gail, I wish I could send you some of my rain. I heard something on the news last night about summer seeming to arrive earlier and earlier each year in California and bringing the wildfires with it. I hope the fire in Yolo and Napa doesn't spread your way. Those poor firefighters, heroes all. Hopefully all counties involved will get rain soon for 100 percent containment.
Enjoy your July 4th holiday.

Gail is right. I believe we Californians are a little spooked after last year's disaster up in the wine country, and SoCal's fire in Santa Barbara. Now we've got another bad one north of Sacramento. No fireworks where I live!

Lisa, Giving up fireworks is a small price to pay to prevent more fires. The damage to the atmosphere from those fires in California and the volcano eruptions in Hawaii are affecting all of us. Be safe.

All of the West is worried about fires or dealing with them. It is so hot and dry everywhere. Your green misty yard photo is so luscious leaving me feeling a bit envious. I would love a huge rain storm or two or three but alas none forecasted for the future.

Due to the dryness in our state, I was amazed that they allowed so many firework displays to take place. In my local area, they sell fireworks every where, you are allowed to buy and shoot off your own fireworks show. As you well know my boy/men couldn't resist that opportunity. We had a grand 4th celebration but I'm so grateful to say that we had no injuries or fires started.
