Click on the link above for more photos using Chintz fabrics. I picked my three favorites to show you. Chintz never went out of style in England and it's coming back here, just like wallpaper. Now that all the people with wallpaper have removed theirs, at great expense, because the realtors told them to, it's making a big comeback! Go figure.

Always loved chintz, but the burgundy wallpaper in my powder room is getting painted over, I think. That red is my least favorite color.
I'm with you on chintz. I am nuts for it. Wallpaper, not so much. I like it but it is a royal pain when you grow tired of it.
I adore chintz. Also wall paper. Fondest wall papering memory is when my mom and I wall papered my daughter's bedroom shortly after she was born. It was an old, old house with plaster walls in sad shape. We even wall papered the ceiling. We laughed so much trying to get the paper to stick on that old ceiling!! That was 47 years ago and I can still see both of us on ladders with the strip of wall paper hanging down over our heads.
I've always loved English country style. So relaxed, and yet so elegant and refined at the same time.
Donna -- Painting over wallpaper is not recommended. Taking it off is a chore I have done only twice in my life and it's not fun. Good luck with your bathroom project.

Billie -- I agree. Taking off wallpaper is a laborious chore and you have to take great care once it's off to remove all the paste too by washing the walls. I did not get it all off on the first room in my first house and the paint bubbled later.

I love chintz ... enjoyed two chairs covered in it for years. Very appropriate for the style I like. The LR picture looks like a room I could settle into quite comfortably for reading and snoozing forever.
Thank you for sharing such a lovely memory, Mama Pea. Such brave souls you and your mom to have tackled a major project like that. The two of you must have been in great shape....mentally and physically. ;-)
I've wallpapered a lot of rooms in my day and removed the paper also. As pretty as some of the new papers are I'm taking a pass on hanging more wallpaper. I've always loved chintz and toile even when they weren't in style, they are classics. And a big YES to traditional English decor, these rooms are all so warm and inviting....bring on the chintz.
