Pink Peony Portraits

My pink peonies are way too heavy to stand upright and are in their last days in the garden. I put a white plastic bag on the ground to photograph this one after a soft, short rain yesterday.

Good bye peonies. See you next year in all your beauty.

So beautiful!
I wish they could last all season. Or at least more than a week or two.
I have some in my yard and I keep meaning to get those peony support frame thingees and get then in place early enough but then, the plants are spent so soon, I never follow through.

Beth -- I keep meaning to do the same thing to my pink peonies. I know they always need supporting but I always wait until it's too late too. Peony season is too short but they thrill us by being the first to bloom after a long winter. They never disappoint.

That's the only thing wrong with peonies . . . they just don't last long enough!

minwks -- Thanks for liking my peony photographs. That's the only way to make them last longer.

Mama Pea -- I know. I never pick mine because they are the most beautiful outside where they can shed their petals at will. All the rain we had when mine first bloomed shortened their season this year. But I still love them and I can always look at my photos to remember them. My red ones only lasted a few days.

So beautiful and I love the fragrance. I live in Ca. where I can grow nearly anything and, yet, what I miss the most are peonies, lilacs and lily of the valley from my childhood in Wisconsin!

They come and go so quickly - they teach you to enjoy them for the short time they are here - a lesson? hmmmmm

Those lovely photographs reminded me of the cycle of life. There can be beauty at every stage, if we simply look for it.

Your photos do your peonies justice, really wonderful Rosemary. The spring blooming plants remain my favorites, just wish they weren't such a flash in the pan or I guess I should say garden. I have three peony plants planted last year, only one bloomed this year. Hoping for better results in the future.
