PBS Tonight: SHERLOCK Finale + VICTORIA Premier

Victoria premier airs tonight on PBS at 9pm in my area. The finale of Sherlock, Season 4 starts two hours earlier at 7pm.
Don't forget to set your DVR for both programs.
I cannot possible understand why PBS does this to us. Can't they just offer one blockbuster at a time? Why put the end of one before the start of another?
Grumble, grumble.

And Homeland, my favorite show returns tonight too. Soon I won't have enough dvr space to record.

donna baker -- You're right! I forgot all about HOMELAND. Sunday night is the most popular night of the week on TV. I want to record Madam Secretary too. It's just too much!

I know, it would be perfect if they would stretch out these treats on PBS a little bit more. I will record and probably watch both tonight and then watch again.....and maybe again. It's lovely to have something wonderful to look forward to viewing on the telly and nice to know we will be doing the same thing. "The Game is On" ...actually The Game is almost over.

Agreed. I don't purposefully sit down to watch very many shows on TV, but I always look forward to Masterpiece and Mystery on Sunday nights. I find I just can't get through hours and hours of back to back shows. I don't have recording equipment, so I have to make decisions, or try binge watching. Often I fall asleep if it drags on too long. Thankfully I can often catch up online, or try to catch it on another day. It's nice to have something to look forward to on another night, so I put off watching Victoria till later in the week. I must admit I haven't been so thrilled with Sherlock. I thought this season they went overboard with special effects and spectacles and over the top plot lines. Even the characters look strange. I liked the series back in the beginning, but now they're trying so hard to be cool that they lost the special appeal of the characters themselves and their ability to incur empathy. My favorite was Martin Freeman, but this season even he seemed off-putting. Grumble grumble.

It's all the fund raising. The stuff piles up and then they jam it all into one very long evening.
When I lived in chicago, Mystery was always on on thursday. masterpiece on sunday.
I don't like having two and even three shows back to back on sunday. I record everything
since I enjoy Madam Secretary, Elementary and football on sundays.

I enjoy Sherlock. I did not enjoy Victoria and part way through it I stopped the recording and deleted it. I just couldn't get into it. Part of it, maybe all of it, is I just don't care for that time period. I did give it a good trial - but had to give up. Loved Downton Abbey, loved The Crown, didn't love Victoria.
