Dahlias Saved from the Frost

One of my good friends was out of town this week and she texted me to go over and cut all of her dahlias to save them from the frost. So I did. There were only a couple of big open blooms but lots of tight buds that are beginning to open. It's so nice to have fresh flowers in the house this time of year and a friend who wants to share.

What a thoughtful thing for her (and you) to do. They're beautiful and certainly worth saving.

Hi Rosemary, Missy from Pittsburgh PA. I've been enjoying your blog for at least 5 years. I often share your posts to FB. I found you through Stacey's Snacks. These are the only blogs I ever look at. I just wanted to thank you of course for everything you've shared over the years from your Mom to Tabitha and Webster and all the lovely things you photograph.
In your post of dahlias today I noticed you saved a spider, too!
Haha, that's the reason for this long note to you.
((hugs)) xoxo Missy

Hi Rosemary, I've enjoyed following your blog for at least 5 years now. I found you on Stacey's Snacks and those are the only blogs I follow daily.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful cottage and it's contents, you mom, Webster and Tabitha and all of your wonderful insights.
Very sweet of your friend to send you to her dahlias. I've heard dahlia people are passionate and this was an example of caring for her blooms.
BUT - being the good woman you are, I noticed in the first picture you saved a big spider, too!!! ;-D
xoxo (((hugs))) Missy in Pittsburgh PA

Hi! I just heard the best lecture EVER from Peter Pennoyer and Katie Ridder about their amazing book....A House in the Country. (It is in Millbrook, NY) (best book EVER). We were in San Francisco! (for the Antique Show!!)

She said that her garden was full of dahlias...they just had their first frost...and they would be all gone! Immediately your blog popped into my head! What a lovely friend and neighbor!!

I think I am going to grow dahlias.....I think they would do well in Santa Barbara.....apparently we are having rain tonight......I pray.
