My next-door neighbor is effectively a horticulturalist and landscape architect, though neither by trade. He likes to wander over to my yard and plant things or pull things or cut things back in the fall. I welcome his puttering! He once said something to the effect of "There's no difference in nature between flowers and weeds. We're the ones who classify them that way." I had never thought of that before that day.
Well you should see the weeds growing in our yard! They are almost as tall as me. We have delayed putting in our yard at the new cottage because it has been in the 90s and 100s since we arrived and no rain. I'm amazed at how the weeds thrive without any water. We literally have a forest of them growing around our house and none look as pretty as the ones pictured in this post.

Beth -- I would give anything for a neighbor like that! You are indeed fortunate. That's a new quote for me too. xo, Rosemary
