Gail -- The season for blooming peonies is quite short. Once mine started blooming until they were all played out was only 17 days. Boo Hoo. They would have lasted longer if we hadn't had hard rain storms when they were in full flower. I took this photo before that rain! I have cut back all the stems that once had buds and flowers and now I have dark green shrubs. That's the story of my beloved peonies! Gone all too quickly! Have a great weekend. xo, Rosemary
I wish you could see the photo a friend sent me yesterday. Here in northern California we have experienced a most unusual three days of rain. All year she waits for her gorgeous hydrangeas to bloom. Yesterday's photo shows them "bowing" before the rain, as though someone careless and heartless came along and bent them 12 inches down from the bloom.

Obviously this is a "before" photo. What do you mean they're all gone? What happened?
