Have you taken your lamb in a basket out for a carriage ride today? This is a screen capture I made while watching Far From The Madding Crowd on my iPad. It was wonderful and I enjoyed it so much. I love Carey Mulligan. This is a 2015 remake of an older movie starring Julie Christie, based on the book by Thomas Hardy.
If you are unable to watch the trailer above, click here. Carey Mulligan has a beautiful voice, doesn't she?

Love her. Love the movie, but I found myself silently scream, "NO, NO, NO" at her naive mistakes. Well, many of us can relate, no doubt. Perhaps that's why it's such a poignant movie. Have to admire Bathsheba generally for her strength of character. Very well done.
Anyone watching the new Doc Martin season?
Saw this on the plane to England this past October and you are right, it is a GREAT film! I loved it from start to finish! All of the actors were perfect for each part, and I don't often say that!
justaweecatnap ~~ I am loving the new season of Doc Martin. As soon as the music comes on, I get a big smile on my face. I can't get enough!
Agree with your comments on the movie. You too Kay G. It was such a visual delight.

Never saw the movie but maybe it will be on Netflix.
donna baker -- This movie is still playing on HBO on demand if you are a subscriber. I'm sure it will eventually be on NetFlix. Or you can go to the library and reserve the DVD. It is definitely a "Must See" film.

It was such a good movie, I saw it twice in the theatre. I couldn't wait.
I remember the Julie Christie version being rather sad, and Thomas Hardy is not known for being upbeat. Therefore (having not read the book) I assumed this director took some liberties in making the current version light and lovely.
(Remember how upbeat Tess of the Derbevilles ... Ugh !!!)

... Reading the comments, I think the new Doc Martin season ended last week. No?
Doc and Louisa kissed sweetly at the end ..... Am I missing something?

Karen in Va --No, Doc Martin final season has barely begun. I think the one you saw was Episode 3 or 4 at the most. It was the most recent episode too. They are in couples therapy and hugging three times daily was their "homework" until the next session. They were supposed to say something positive too but Martin was the only one who did that part. Louisa never said anything positive about him during any of the hugs. Can't wait until next week.

Oh Rosemary ... We saw all that here. It's hard to believe that my PBS station is more advanced than NYC. I can tell you the whole rest of the series, but I won't of course.
I'm in such distress over the coming end of Downton Abbey and Good Wife this season. What the heck will I watch!

Doc Martin YES, Far From the Maddening Crowd YES. Love them both! I also agree with jusaweecatnap's review of the the movie. Right now I'm watching Emma Thompson's Sense and Sensibility as it popped up on the telly. This evening I desperately need a relaxing escape, Austen's England is always a good choice. That cottage in the movie, a big YES!
