My First Cold in Years and Years

I've been so proud of myself for longer than I can remember, keeping the cold germs from penetrating my good health. All that went out the window on Sunday night when I started going hoarse and felt a tightening in my chest. The sore throat part started on Tuesday. It's sort of a backward cold and I am treating it with the Neti pot, various gargles wuth salt, Bragg's Cider Vinegar, and anything else I can think of, all to no avail. This was the best image I could find on Google to illustrate my condition. I even broke down and bought Nyquil yesterday and it wasn't all that effective but I do feel rested this morning. I am hoping for a whole day without having to leave the house on this rainy day. Cross your fingers for me. Not complaining, just explaining. I know it's been at least 6 years since my last cold, maybe longer. Darn!

Feel better, Rosemary. REST is BEST. Do use the day to get as much of it as you can. And, LIQUID. Keep hydrated. I know that you know all of this . . . just attempting a little "mothering" from afar.

The best thing you can do (besides what you're already doing)is to take care of yourself by resting and avoiding stress. Your diet is healthy so just keep LOTS of good liquids going through your body to flush out the germies. Take care, dear Rosemary!

So sorry to hear that you are "under the weather",Rosemary. How about some chicken soup? Stay cozy with Webster near-by.xo Annette

Annette -- I have a big pot of chicken soup simmering on the stove right now. Chicken, celery, mushrooms, carrots and some rice because I don't have any egg noodles. That should fix me right up.

Oh, woe is you. I'm so sorry you're under the weather. Sounds like you're doing all the right things. Just don't let it linger too long if it gets into your chest as it could turn into a nasty case of bronchitis. I'm sure Webster will be a good and patient companion while you're fighting this off.

Maybe this is Mother Nature's way of saying, "Slow down, Rosemary. Take it easy."

I hope you have a nice little fire going in the fireplace and after you've enjoyed your piping hot bowl of soup, you'll feel like taking a short nap in front of the fire with warm socks and a cuddly blanket.

Take good care of yourself.

Oh dear, sad to read this. I think it's the crazy weather with warm one day and colder the next, I've got a slight cold too. Hoping that tomorrow you're feeling better or at least on the mend. That soup should certainly help. Lots of good caring advice above....rest and heal dear friend.
