how wonderful! he'll eat all the bad bugs for you. just don't let webster put his nose on him! my friend's little doxie did ... then licked his nose... then got very sick! the vet said it's fairly common. their skin has a film of very toxic something or other! still... they're pretty cool creatures.
He is a gift! He does eat bad bugs.....in fact any bug he can find! How lucky you are to live near woods and use no pesticides! He would never come to your cottage if you used herbicides....or pesticides!
I once found one in my kitchen sink, it tried to blend there too. Your toad really does match the mulch, glad you took the photo. We never figured out how the toad got in the sink, must have come up through through the drain.
