The Myth of Red Clover and The Bee

Remember last week when I told you I always believed bees could not get the nectar from red clover because their tongues were too short? This bee hasn't heard that rumor. Sorry my photo is a little blurry but I'm glad I got him at all. I have fields of both white and red and the bees seem like both equally. The hummingbirds love the red clover too. It's a nice cool breezy morning here at the cottage and the dark clouds are beginning to gather for a thunder storm. Have a great weekend. xo

I had a redbird picking off geranium blossoms last week. He perched on side of pot and daintly ate a whole blossom cluster.

Nature does what it wants.

Oh, to have some rainfall...unfortunately, if we receive the slightest bit of moisture at the higher elevations, you get headlines like this: "Fire officials say a lightning-sparked blaze in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest has grown to 1,331 acres and is about 5 percent contained Saturday morning."

Say a little prayer for California this October that we receive some lovely rainfall--not gully-washers---they cause immediate flooding without slow, gentle saturation first.

Enjoy your weekend. I'm joining friends at the firehouse this afternoon to wish my friend, their secretary for the last 25 years, a very happy, and well-deserved, retirement. The firemen are cooking!

Mrs B -- That must have been fun to watch. Maybe he was telling you to put out more bird seed to save your flowers.
