Green Kitchen

via
This is a wonderful kitchen and I really like this color. The green really sets off the wonderful collection of copper cookware. The two black farm sinks and the black countertops carry out the dark theme. The only white is the ceramic knobs and the dishes, not counting the flour and sugar.

Very pretty tone of green, I am doing my kitchen right now with fresh coat of paint and its a tough choice deciding a good color!!

Ooo, luscious! I don't think I'd ever get tired of that green color. Not sure about the black counter tops though. When my husband's school did a remodel, they put black "counter tops" on the cabinets and storage units in his room and they showed the dust in a really awful way. Guess that goes to prove that sometimes too dark is as bad as too light!

Love this color for a kitchen. When I painted my kitchen cabinets this color, Jade Green, I was delighted to learn it was the same color as Julia Child's kitchen, and have received lots of compliments on the color. Would love to visit Julia's kitchen someday as it now inhabits the Smithsonian Museum. I, also, do not like the dark countertops. It is difficult to see dust and grime on granite countertops that are very dark or have a busy pattern in the granite.

JudyMac....I recently read "My Life in France" by Julia Child's nephew with lots of help from her several years before she died. WOW, what a great life she had. It's a double love story too about her great marriage and her love of French cooking. Have you read it?
I am actually not fond of granite countertops in any color or pattern. I had them in my last house and they were beautiful but very high maintenance. I had many windows in the room and every smudge and fingerprint showed on the highly reflective surface.
Happy Easter.

I do love the colour and style. But would not have it at home as my ceilings are low and my windows small so need light colours.

Read early on the detailed bio of Julia called "Appetite for Life" by Noel Riley Fitch, and also read a couple of others. Most fun, however, was the movie "Julie and Julia," where Julia was played by Meryl Streep and husband Paul played by Stanley Tucci. I do think Paul was the love of her life, and she his, as well. How lucky in life are people who find that. They created a heap of fun together.

Love the kitchen. Color, detailing, scale, the glass fronted cabinets. Almost too elegant for a kitchen. I rather admire the Child's approach to a kitchen as a workroom, with Paul organizing it all to be neat and efficient. I've read a number of books about Julia Child and have great admiration for her. Love her for her can do attitude, and willingness to put up with awful conditions to serve her country. From what people say, she never complained about her difficulties, and I think that's something we should all strive for. She had a great sense of humor. I chafe at people mocking her, and her early shows. When you read her autobiography you realize she was a pioneer in tv cooking shows and was working under very difficult conditions. They really only had one chance to get it all on tape; very little editing. So, I think she did a fabulous job, was very poised throughout, and eventually let her puckish sense of humor shine through. Her accomplishment with the cookbooks was really extraordinary. Really admire her.

You have read more about her than I have but I agree with everything you've said about dear Julia. She was from a family of privilege and her father wanted her to be a social climber and a snob but it just wasn't in her nature. She really never wanted that life and yes, the pioneer life was perfect for her. What a gal!
Happy Easter!!!
