The French satirical magazine was named after Charlie Brown. My heart is broken too by the dreadful terrorist acts. The flag in my town is flying at half mast.
Words are just not enough, are they, to convey the great sadness and horror it all. I was amazed and moved by all the candlelight vigils and the lone violin in London playing the French national anthem.
What a lovely town you live in to fly the flag half staff. Every town in the world should do so. Please go to YouTube and listen to our Vice President speak in French to the French people about this tragedy. I cried. I took French; never learned anything; but could feel the emotion and caring......and I could tell his accent was excellent. His heart is broken right in front of everyone. It shows in his eyes. He made me proud while my heart is broken. I didn't know about Charlie Brown. Boo Hoo!
Annette....I have been watching BBC World News almost exclusively. That's where I learned the Charlie Brown connection. I just googled it and learned this as well: The magazine’s name refers to Charlie Brown from the popular cartoon “Peanuts.” Hebdo refers to the French word for weekly newspaper, hebdomadaire. Dear Rosemary,Thank you for this post. I did not know about the Carlie Brown connection.xo Annette
It was a very sad day yesterday. And the future is unimaginable. I don't like to be a pessimist, so I just try not to think about the future.

It is so sad. This world of mindless terrorism is also sad. I pray it ends.
