It looks totally perfect. Leave it to me to find something to worry about! If the ivy on the tree is allowed to go all the way up; it will kill the tree! I see it happen all the time here in California....ivy (any non-deciduous ivy: English, etc) that goes up a tree...will eventually (and actually quickly) kill the tree!
Can we call them and tell them to cut the stuff off at the base???
HELP!! I leave notes in mailboxes all the time!
Beautiful cottage!
ps I LOVE "TOM"! He is in an antique high chair...no longer used..and quite at home!
yes. oh my. i can see myself sitting on that porch. sheer perfection. and my husband was a landscape architect. and tried in vain to convince people about ivy on trees. or any vine. ah well. life.
tammy j -- Your husband had such a noble profession, when it's done right. It pains me to see the so-called landscapers giving the customers in developments mulch volcanoes and then wondering why the trees died. I can see myself sitting on that porch too. x0, Rosemary
JudyMac... That is definitely a porch swing on the left side. I think we're going to have to draw straws on this one. Everybody likes and wants it. xo, Rosemary
I love this house, especially the front yard. Interesting about ivy in the tree and your reader's comment about her husband encouraging the growth in trees. I had always heard it was not good for trees to allow ivy to grow up the trunk. Karen
Karen....I think tammy j's husband, the landscape architect, was trying to discourage ivy on trees or any vines. I googled it and found a post from The American Ivy Society and they say it won't harm healthy trees. Here is the link: http://www.ivy.org/faq-40.htm xo, Rosemary

Wow. Yes, absolutely perfect. I wouldn't change a thing.
Yes it does and somewhat similar to the cottage I/we will be building in about a year.
I would so love to see the inside.

If that is a swing I spot over on the left end of the porch, then definitely this is the house for me!
