Don't Forget to Bring Your Plants Inside Tonight

It's supposed to get cold tonight and I must bring two geraniums inside for the winter. Did you bring in the things you want to overwinter yet? It's time! Aren't these topiaries pretty on this antique wire plant stand? It's in the perfect spot too. xo

I awoke to the drip, drip, drip sound of rain in the rain gutters. Now, some would find that sound annoying but not us Californians! Oh, this early morning blessed rain in northern California is wonderful!

I have a little gardenia plant on the front deck that will need to be brought in before the first hard frost. A precious little thing that must be coddled...neither too hot or too cold and of course it wouldn't last two minutes if planted in the yard with my resident deer.

It's funny; just three hours away in the inland central valley of California, my daughter has hedges of gardenia. That's right. Hedges. And she's constantly whacking them back with big pruning loppers. ;-)

Beautiful plants, stand and place for them. My problem with bringing plants in over the winter is I don't have any window in which to place them so that they get adequate light. :o(

Oh how I wish we were experiencing any consistent cool weather. Thursday is expected to be in the high eighties. We desperately need rain.
On a happier note, this has long been one of my favorite foyers.

We've had beautiful weather... and 55° over night... haven't brought them in yet.
But when I do. I want them to look just that beautiful and no places haphazardly all over the kitchen and mud room. :)

I swear, Henry brought the big gardenia ("Deenie") in tonight, an annual ritual of carrying her up the stairs and placing her in her sun spot by the window. Another year gone by. :)
