Moving Furniture Again

Every time I move a piece of furniture to a new location, I end up spending at least one whole day moving accessories around. This hunt board was downstairs in my mother's sitting room. I moved it into a recessed area in my kitchen and I love it there. My slant front desk used to be in this location and if you remember, I moved that to the living room after having the lid repaired. The same restorers took this piece with them when they delivered the desk. They evened out the color from some water damage and gave it a good French polish. They did such a good job and I'm thrilled. I now have all of my miniatures on ivory displayed together for the first time. I think I need a few more, don't you? The weather is cool and breezy, a rare treat for July. No A/C and all the windows are open so I'm a happy camper and so is Webster. Have a great weekend. xo

What a beautiful piece! Is it antique?
My 16 year old son found those same doggy bookends at a tag sale and took them home. His are brass, though and he keeps them on the shelf that forms part of his bed. I thought it was so funny that he liked them so much and just HAD to have them! Good taste for a teenage kid, eh?

Helene...The huntboard is not a period piece but it's early 20th century and is beautifully made and has good color and great lines and beautiful brasses. My mother and I bought it at a house contents sale on the last day for $100. It served my mother's needs very well and now it has a new life with me. I'm loving all the drawers for my finer things and it's perfect for the space.
Yes, your son has good taste. I felt the same way about my dog bookends in silver. Had to have them! I've never been sorry I bought them. You should encourage him to continue to buy things that "speak" to him. That's how the Keno brothers got started.
Have a great weekend.

Great piece of furniture. I've got to get my mama's buffet in and move around some things. You did a great job of pulling it all together.

$100!!! What a steal! That photo looks like it came out of a coffee table book about gorgeous early American furniture or something! Enjoy it, it's stunning. Yes, I will encourage my son to buy items that call to him. That is what I always try to do, too. Thanks for sharing this pretty, pretty piece with us!

Rosemary….good move! Helene is correct, looks like this photo should be in a decor book or magazine. It's a beautiful piece of furniture and the back story makes it even more endearing. It's a lovely hunt board surrounded by so many wonderful treasures. You have excellent taste!

What a beautiful piece and love the why you've styled the accessories. I have those bookends and this inspires me to find a new spot for them. Very pretty.
