My new mantra. I made some calls yesterday to schedule appointments for some things I've been putting off. Calls have been returned and I'm feeling as if I'm moving forward instead of standing still. Hooray! via

I know what you mean, Rosemary. I finally called a young man who restores furniture. I have a beautiful dining room set that was a wedding gift to my grandmother. It has six side chairs and two end captain chairs, each one intricately carved and mellowed with age to a lovely patina. They are all doweled and glued together, no nails. He brought back the side chairs yesterday and took the captain chairs to finish the job. He also gave me the names of men who carry upholstery fabric and do upholstery.
Do you know how long I've wanted to get this done? YEARS! I didn't want the chairs refinished; I simply wanted to protect them before someone sat down and broke one. They no longer squeak. And they just feel sturdy.
Gail...I have a furniture restorer coming next week too. Our minds are in the same place. My tall case clock has a broken weight line and my slant front desk has a broken hinge and drawers that are too hard to open. I want everything in working order again. I hope you have a Happy Easter!!! xo, Rosemary
It seems furniture restoration is something we think can be put off forever but if not now, when? When it breaks and it's too late? And in your case, the slant desk with the broken hinge and drawers that are too hard to open...well, it's an aggravation and every time you go to use it, you get ticked.
I guess when you're caring for someone who is elderly or sick, these projects just have to take a backseat, you can't afford the distraction, it's too risky---but they don't go away either. They are always there, waiting for the day we have time for them.
I needed to read this quote, I've been trying to add Someday to my weeks for years. Sometime you need a quote to smack you in the head to get your attention….this got mine.
Gail...Happy Easter to you too! I agree that furniture restoration and upholstering are things you can put off forever. I am determined to tie up my loose ends NOW, not someday!!! xo, Rosemary
Victoria....That quote got my attention too. As soon as I get an ink refill, I'm going to print it. Have a Happy Easter with your lovely family. I loved the hoppy bunny too. xo, Rosemary

Rosemary,
This is a great message for me. I have a long list of things I need to do.
