Two dollars and sixty-nine cents worth of happiness

I have needed a new sink stopper for years. My old one was over 10 years old and the top had deteriorated to the point there was no place to connect the chain ring. My new one cost $2.69 at Sears and it makes me so happy. Of course it required two trips because the first one I brought home was too small. Luckily, the strip mall with the Sears Hardware is close to the place with the cheapest gas in the area, so I'm over that way quite often. It doesn't take much to make me happy, does it?
The visiting dog went home and Tabitha is happy. She has walked through the living room several times to the water dish and back to the bedroom. The first snow flakes are starting to fly but we don't care. I got two new tires on Friday so I'm ready. It's not supposed to amount to much and I hope it's just a dusting. We are cozy and warm here at the cottage and hope you are too.

Isn't it funny how little things like that can make a person very happy? Funnier still is how long we put up with the old one.

When my niece was visiting recently, I noticed a lot of long hair accumulating in the shower drain. I cannot face a problem like clogged pipes or scheduling a plumber now. Coincidentally, my younger brother was visiting and went with me to the hardware store where he found a screen that you simply place over the larger holed one. I had no idea there was even such a thing available. $2.79 and a potential problem averted.

It's funny how sometimes we just won't spend that little money--perhaps because it's not something we really consider "worth buying"? I don't know, but I do know we all do that. For me it was a SMALL watering can for my cacti ($2). My mom did the same thing with an egg slicer. Her's was all bent up and did a lousy job. I listened to her whine for YEARS about it. I finally bought her one as a Christmas gag gift. A whopping $1.49 (at the time) She was thrilled. LOL!

Glad the house is back to normal for Tabitha.

Ah, the little things in life . . . isn't it And, isn't it even more wonderful that with marvelous abundance of our worlds, these small treasures still thrill us. I got a new toilet seat cover just before Thanksgiving. You might have thought I had redecorated the entire little bathroom, I was so thrilled.
Enjoy your sink stopper . . . it's absolutely slendid.

Happy wintery day - Linda

alexandra stoddard in her book 'living a beautiful life' said something about happiness being a cupboard that doesn't stick, soft towels when you want them to be soft, little things that work the way they should . . . can't remember exactly. it's a wonderful book. and you've managed to make this picture look almost like a little abstract painting. it's beautiful!

One Rubber Stopper.
It looks so pretty on your marble sink.
New tires are also one of life's simple pleasures. Stay warm and safe...
