Magic Bathroom Ring Remover

What is this, you ask? It's a touchy subject and I'm not really anxious to discuss toilets or anything else about housecleaning on my blog but when I find a household hint that everyone can use, I feel I must share. I read about this magic sheet of drywall sandpaper and its ability to remove that ring around your toilet bowl when nothing else will. As you know, I've been cleaning the lower level of my cottage and there are two bathrooms down there. Since my mother's passing, I have only been going down to do laundry and neither bowl has been flushed regularly. Everything came sparking clean with little effort except for one ring around the water level and nothing would remove it.  I have very hard well water and no water conditioner. I looked around in my store room where all the construction leftovers were stored from my renovation and I found one sheet of this drywall sandpaper. I cut off a piece and followed these instructions and the rest is history. Both rings are GONE! The sandpaper did not scratch the white porcelain either. I am thrilled. This is great to know if you have a vacation home that isn't used on a daily basis. Sometimes the drudgery of housework has a bright spot to make you want to keep going. I can see light at the end of the tunnel and I'm feeling good!

I have some of that drywall sandpaper....now I just need a ring cuz I'm a cleaner and would love to try it! We, too, have well water. Isn't well water so difficult? Do your whites turn yellow? I even have a terrible time using sunscreen then washing laundry. The clothes turn orange. I can only use sunscreens with zinc as the base. Are you going to rent your space out or is it just for blog visitors to enjoy? :) Have a great day.

You could go to some open houses and offer to clean people's rings for them :)

I have had real estate customer who replaced their toilets before listing their home for sale before I knew this wonderful solution.

At the rate I'm going, I will need the space downstairs for my own caretaker :)

I doubt that I will rent it anytime soon. But you never know.

You can share it with others in your complex because they all probably have the same problem.

I am so thrilled to have conquered my lime rings!!!

Rosemary,
It almost sounds like the Mr. Clean Eraser product. Probably costs a lot less. :D thanks for the tip.

Karen...

Wrong. I used Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and the ring didn't budge. Believe me, this drywall sandpaper is really MAGIC.

I must buy a pack because I never want to be without it.

This is one of the best tips I've seen! Am going to buy some drywall sandpaper today. Thank you!

Sara in Ohio, yes, our well water in Sonoma, CA, does the very same thing. A vacation rental we stayed on Whidbey Island, WA, did too. I was told it's the high amounts of iron/mineral in the water. Good to know about the zinc based sunblock. Thank you.
