my neighbor down the block where i lived in the wee blink bonnie was a postman. in the summers i'd see him come home ~ those days and days on end when it was 106 in the shade ~ and he'd carried that heavy bag all day ~ he was cheerful and always waved. his name was jim. i'm glad jim will have saturdays off with his family.
I expect that mail boxes will one of these days be totally gone with the wind. But oh, isn't it fun when you walk to your mailbox and find a letter from a friend, an invitation to a party, a postcard from your neighbor who is vacationing in the south of France, or better yet, a package containing the old antique or piece of ephemera that you won on eBay--maybe coming from the other side of the world.

They will still deliver packages on Saturday and the post offices that are open on Saturdays will still be open.
