Christmas Wreath on Cottage Door

I put the wreath on my front door a couple of days ago after I gave the outside a good cleaning. A red bow looked too garish for me so I left it unadorned. Yesterday I got some beautiful flowers with a big white bow and quickly put it between two pinecones. It looks amazingly perfect, doesn't it? To me it represents the purity of my mother's spirit. The white bow is perfect. Just as classy as your mom.

I did big pinecones on my wreath, too. One of the few benefits of Hurricane Sandy was that it left lots of pinecones for the picking on the Village Green.

The white bow also looks great with the white door. Very pretty, Sara

Lovely! I would not have thought of a white bow, but it's the perfect touch The symbolism is beautiful as well, especially as the circle of the wreath also suggests eternity/eternal life.

Dear Rosemary, The wreath is a beautiful tribute to your precious mother. Not long after my mother passed away , my husband and I were shopping at lowes home improvement. I always walk through the garden section because it never fails to lift my spirits. Our budget was very close at the time and we had committed to just spending for necessities. however, I saw a small camellia japonica of the purest white and it was named "Margie", my mother's name.I told my husband it was a necessity for me to get it. Today, it stands as tall as me and is flowering now at Christmas. The blooms are as white and pure as my mother's heart. Her spirit is very close to me at Christmas. My prayers are with you.

I think you've just started a lovely tradition for yourself, Rosemary. From now on, the Christmas wreath on your door will contain one lovely white bow in memory of your mother.

Gail...

You are right. The tradition has begun. I'll have a white bow every year in her memory.

Sally Thomas pointed that the circle of the wreath also suggests eternity/eternal life.

Perfect symbolism for my dear mother.

xo, Rosemary

PS...This is my first year with this white pine wreath with the big pine cones. I still can't believe it's artificial...even from up close.

I was at my favorite local country shop which is in the little town of Occoquan, VA yesterday admiring the artificial wreaths and needed to touch and sniff each one for they seemed so very "real." Yours is lovely, too, Rosemary. The white bow is a splendid addition which we will look forward to seeing each Christmas to come.

Fooled me, I thought it was real. Well, it is real and now bedecked with a sweet reminder of your mother...a new tradition has begun. Well done my dear...I'm sure your mother would approve of this honor and how lovely to have a reminder of her every time you go through the door.

This is what my daughter I did for her sis two weeks ago...faux and real...worked like a charm.

Rosemary, I did post condolences on learning (belatedly) of your dear mother's passing but somehow my comment seems to have evaporated. I'm sorry if you thought me callous when only my second, added comment, appeared.
